Bunions

Bunions, Bunion Surgery and Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery

What is a Bunion?

Bunions are often described as a bump on the inside of the big toe, however there is much more to a bunion. The bump is actually a change in the boney position of the foot where the big toe leans more towards the second toe instead of pointing straight.

Bunions are a progressive condition where they can become increasingly prominent. Bunions are inherited conditions which can be further progressed by improper shoe gear.

Symptoms:

  • Pain and burning with tight fitting shoes
  • Soreness
  • Inflammation and redness
  • Calluses
  • Decreased range of motion of the big toe joint

Treatment

There are many treatment options for bunions especially early on, these include changes in shoe gear, padding, medications, injections, orthotics and surgery. Surgery is typically performed when the bunion causes pain and interferes with daily activities. Not every bunion is the same and Dr. Pajouh will discuss the best surgical options for you.

Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery (MIS Bunion Surgery)

Minimally invasive bunion surgery might be an option for your bunion deformity and help resolve pain. This procedure is done through much smaller incisions than traditional bunion surgery. Typically less sutures are used than traditional bunion surgery and patients have much smaller incision scars. Dr. Pajouh will discuss with you if Minimally invasive bunion surgery is a good option for you. Dr. Pajouh has been trained in Minimally invasive surgery by the top Podiatric and Orthopedic Surgeons in Texas. Make an appointment today with Dr. Jonathan Pajouh to further discuss treatment options and which treatment option best fits you.
