Diabetic Foot Care

People with diabetes are at risk for developing foot and ankle problems that potentially can be severe. Minor injuries can become major emergencies in people with diabetes. Small wounds or blisters can result in damage which can result in significant complications including infection. Diabetes can also decrease your blood flow which can slow down healing and put you at higher risk for infection. As a diabetic, your infection may spread quickly, and if you have any loss of sensation you may not know that the problem is getting worse. If you have diabetes make sure to be seen by Dr. Jonathan Pajouh. Diabetics should perform daily foot exams to look for possible puncture wounds especially if they also have neuropathy. If you notice any injury come see Dr. Pajouh as soon as possible.
